Ordering kids' clothes online means you can't try before you buy — so getting the size right matters more than usual. Unlike adult sizing, kids' clothing in India is almost always sold by age range rather than numeric size, which helps but doesn't remove the guesswork entirely, since every child grows at a different pace.

A general age-to-size reference

  • 0–3 months: newborns, average weight up to 6 kg
  • 3–6 months: average weight 6–8 kg
  • 6–9 months: average weight 8–9 kg
  • 9–12 months: average weight 9–10.5 kg
  • 1–1.5 years: average weight 10–11.5 kg
  • 1.5–2 years: average weight 11.5–13 kg
  • 2–3 years: average weight 13–15 kg
  • 3–4 years: average weight 15–17 kg
  • 4–5 years: average weight 17–19 kg
  • 5–6 years: average weight 19–21 kg

Tips for a better fit

  1. Measure, don't guess. Lay a similar-fitting outfit your child already wears flat and measure chest, waist, and length — compare against the product's size chart rather than relying on age alone.
  2. Size up for growing room. Kids outgrow clothes fast. If your child is between sizes, sizing up gives a few extra months of wear.
  3. Check fabric type. Knitwear and stretch cotton tend to run more forgiving than woven cotton — factor that in if your child is on the taller or leaner side.
  4. Watch for shrinkage. Cotton can shrink slightly after the first wash — a small buffer in sizing helps here too.
  5. When in doubt, reach out. If a size chart still leaves you unsure, our support team (support@tututata.co.in) can help you pick between two sizes based on your child's measurements.
