India's climate swings widely across the year and across regions, and dressing a baby appropriately does more for their comfort than most parents realise — overheating and being underdressed both disrupt sleep and mood.

Summer (March–June)

  • Stick to lightweight, breathable cotton — avoid synthetic blends entirely in peak heat.
  • Loose-fitting rompers and sleeveless sets allow better airflow than fitted outfits.
  • Light colours reflect heat better than dark ones, especially for outdoor time.
  • A soft cotton cap protects against sun exposure without adding warmth.
  • Change outfits promptly if sweaty — prolonged dampness against skin can cause heat rash.

Monsoon (July–September)

  • Quick-dry cotton blends help on humid days when laundry takes longer to dry.
  • Keep a couple of full-sleeve options on hand for air-conditioned indoor spaces, which can get surprisingly cool.
  • Avoid overly thick fabrics — humidity plus heavy cotton can feel worse than a lighter layer.

Winter (November–February)

  • Layering beats one heavy piece — a cotton base layer under a knitted sweater or cardigan adapts better to temperature swings through the day.
  • Knitwear (like our knitted sweater and pant sets) offers warmth without the bulk of synthetic padding.
  • Keep hands, feet, and head covered — babies lose heat faster from extremities than adults do.
  • Watch for overheating indoors — heating and layering together can be too much; check the back of your baby's neck for warmth as a simple gauge.

General rule of thumb: dress your baby in roughly the same number of layers you'd wear yourself, plus one extra layer for infants under 6 months, since they regulate body temperature less efficiently.
